In 2000, comedian Mark Jonathan Davis created the Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine band. As lounge singer Richard Cheese, Davis has released 22 albums, sold 250,000 CDs, appeared on radio, television, and in movies, and played hundreds of sellout concerts around the world.
But Davis was never a professional singer, never performed in a band before, and can't even read music.
How did he do it? Where did this idea come from? What's the secret behind this success?
The new book "ATLAS LOUNGED" will reveal the uncensored behind-the-scenes backstory of the Richard Cheese band, and tell how a high school nerd worked his way from the Arizona desert to Hollywood to headlining the Las Vegas Strip.
If you like Richard Cheese, you will LOVE this book!
Davis will share his fun and fascinating rags-to-tuxes story, with a detailed autobiography about his eye-opening experiences in the music business. The book will trace his 35-year career through radio, TV, and the recording industry, and will include photographs, documents, celebrity encounters, and a thorough "making of" retrospective about each of his Richard Cheese CDs.
Davis explains the process, shares his secrets, and shows the scars -- and fan tattoos -- from backstage, onstage, in the studio, and on the road with Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine.
"ATLAS LOUNGED: THE MUSIC, MOVIES, AND MADNESS OF RICHARD CHEESE & LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE" is a must read for fans of the band, and for anyone pursuing a career in the music business. For those about to lounge, this book is for you.

Before he created the Richard Cheese band, Mark Jonathan Davis worked as a radio DJ, jingle singer, announcer, traffic reporter, program director, actor, commercial producer, and copywriter. His resume includes NBC, KROQ, TVLand, Walt Disney Imagineering, SNL, The Dr. Demento Show, MTV, Warner Brothers Animation, The Late Show With David Letterman, and The White House. These varied career roles somehow led to the launch of lounge singer Richard Cheese, in 2000.
After twenty years of recording and touring with his band, Davis has seen plenty of highs and lows. The highs: performing at private rockstar parties, appearing on TV shows like "Jimmy Kimmel Live," singing in "The Lego Batman Movie" and "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice," playing for 20,000 people at England's Sonisphere Festival, headlining the Las Vegas strip, and of course, showgirls showgirls showgirls. The lows: record company lawsuits, broken pianos, cancelled gigs, shady promoters, fleabag hotels, music piracy, identity theft, a hernia, neck surgery, sinus surgery, a tonsillectomy, two eye operations, and stalkers stalkers stalkers.
"ATLAS LOUNGED: THE MUSIC, MOVIES, AND MADNESS OF RICHARD CHEESE & LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE" tells an amazing story of creativity, ambition, adversity, and did I mention the showgirls?
